Pennsylvania HB164 sets forth provisions for the final disposition of fetal remains following the fetal death of an unborn child. If a parent selects a location for the final disposition other than a health care facility, they are responsible for the costs. Health care facilities must provide for the final disposition and may cremate or inter the remains if not claimed by a parent. The Department of Health is not required to issue a certificate of birth for a stillborn child. Information identifying the parent of the unborn child remains confidential.
