HB1528

Establishing the Grand-family Assistance Program; providing for payments to area agencies on aging; imposing duties on the Department of Aging; and establishing the Grand-family Assistance Program Fund.

Chamber Passed·11/19/25

Pennsylvania HB1528 establishes the Grand-family Assistance Program to provide grants to area agencies on aging for grand-families caring for.

HB1528, known as the Grand-family Assistance Program Act, establishes a grant system to support grand-families in Pennsylvania. These families, where a grandparent is the primary caregiver for a grandchild due to the child's parent's opioid use disorder, can receive financial assistance for care-related expenses. The Department of Aging will approve grants to area agencies on aging, which will then provide the financial aid. Funding may come from the Opioid Settlement Restricted Account, in addition to other appropriations.
