Pennsylvania HB1303 amends Title 75 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes to mandate that emergency vehicles transporting K-9 officers must be equipped with heat detection devices. These devices must alert the vehicle operator when the cabin temperature becomes unsafe for the K-9 officer, using the horn, sirens, and lights, and automatically roll down two windows to cool the vehicle. The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation will establish regulations for the type, function, installation, temperature limits, and use of these devices, considering different vehicle types.
