Pennsylvania HB1272 amends the duties of electric distribution companies, allowing them to invest in new generation resources if resource inadequacy.

Pennsylvania HB1272 amends Title 66 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes to modify the duties of electric distribution companies. The bill allows these companies to invest in new generation resources if the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission finds a resource inadequacy. Companies can invest directly or through long-term resource adequacy agreements. Costs for new generation resources and agreements are to be recovered from customers through a nonbypassable cost-recovery tariff mechanism.
