Introduced Text

Pennsylvania HB1033 prohibits gender transition procedures for minors and coverage for such procedures.

Pennsylvania HB1033, known as the Save Adolescents from Experimentation Act, prohibits health care practitioners from performing gender transition procedures on minors, including genital and nongenital gender reassignment surgery, cross-sex hormones, and puberty-blocking drugs. It also prohibits pharmacists from dispensing these treatments to minors. The bill further restricts insurers and government programs from covering gender transition procedures for minors. Exceptions are made for individuals born with a medically verifiable disorder of sex development.
