Relating to procedures for medical emergencies in schools; and prescribing an effective date.

Complete·3/31/26

Oregon HB4160 mandates schools to have a cardiac emergency response plan, including AEDs.

Oregon HB4160 requires every kindergarten through grade 12 public or private school to have a cardiac emergency response plan. The plan must include at least one automated external defibrillator (AED) on the premises. Schools must align their plans with core elements and ensure AEDs are placed in accessible locations. The plan must also include procedures for responding to medical emergencies and provide instruction as described in ORS 339.408. The State Board of Education may adopt rules related to these programs. The amendments apply to the 2026-2027 school year and take effect July 1, 2026.
