Oklahoma SJR7 proposes a constitutional amendment to change the appointment process for the Insurance Commissioner. The Governor would appoint the Insurance Commissioner with the consent of the Senate. This change would take effect after the term of the Insurance Commissioner elected in 2026. The amendment also removes term limits for the Insurance Commissioner, allowing them to serve indefinitely. The Legislature would be authorized to enact laws to implement these provisions.
