Oklahoma SJR3 proposes a constitutional amendment to exempt seniors from property tax on their homesteads. Beginning January 1, 2026, individuals aged 65 or older who own and occupy their property and have a gross household income of $25,000 or less will be exempt from paying property taxes on their homestead. This amendment modifies the current limit on fair cash value of homesteads to provide a full exemption for seniors. The Oklahoma Tax Commission will provide income threshold information to county assessors annually.
