Oklahoma SB969 amends turnpike laws to require compensation for property damage and acquisition requests from abutting property owners.
Oklahoma SB969 amends the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority's land acquisition process to ensure property owners receive compensation for damages caused by turnpike projects. The Authority must notify abutting property owners of intended right-of-way acquisitions and offer compensation for property devaluation or acquisition upon request. If the Authority's offer is below the property owner's last best offer by 10% or more, the owner is entitled to attorney, appraisal, and expert witness fees. The Authority must also acquire abutting property if requested by the owner.
