Oklahoma SB703 allows micro-credentials to fulfill certain requirements for renewing standard teaching certificates.

Oklahoma SB703 amends the renewal requirements for standard teaching certificates, allowing micro-credentials to fulfill certain criteria. The State Department of Education, in collaboration with the Office of Educational Quality and Accountability, will identify eligible micro-credentials. These can be provided by institutions within The Oklahoma State System of Higher Education and approved digital learning platforms. The bill also allows district school boards to charge a reasonable fee for renewal. The act declares an emergency and becomes effective July 1, 2025.
