Oklahoma SB655, known as the Oklahoma Taxpayer and Citizen Protection Act, requires all employers to register and use the E-Verify system for employee verification. Employers must not hire employees if verification fails and must keep verification records. Employers hiring before the act's effective date or exempt by federal law are not required to comply. The Attorney General can investigate violations, impose fines, and bar employers from state contracts for a year. Employers can appeal fines in court. The act takes effect November 1, 2025.
