Oklahoma SB617 mandates annual sunset for administrative rules and sets a renewal process.

Oklahoma SB617 requires any permanent administrative rule to automatically terminate one year after it goes into effect. A rule can be renewed for additional terms of one year or less through a joint resolution by the Legislature. Agencies must demonstrate the necessity for renewal and include a cost-benefit analysis. The Secretary of State must notify the promulgating agency four months before a rule's termination date. The act becomes effective November 1, 2025.
