Oklahoma SB588 requires school districts and technology centers to request attestations from current or former employers about any allegations of inappropriate behavior involving prospective employees. If a school fails to request this attestation and is found liable in a civil action or agrees to a settlement, the school must pay fifty thousand dollars. The bill also mandates the dismissal of superintendents and declares board positions vacant if they fail to comply. The act is declared an emergency and takes effect immediately upon approval.
