Oklahoma SB485 removes the requirement for municipalities to deposit their permanent volume of penal ordinances in county law libraries.
Oklahoma SB485 amends the notice and filing of penal ordinance compilations by removing the requirement for municipalities to deposit their permanent volume of penal ordinances in county law libraries. Instead, a court may consider a book and page reference of the county clerk’s filings as satisfactory proof of compliance. This change allows for judicial notice to be taken of an ordinance without the need for physical deposit in the library. The act becomes effective November 1, 2025.
