Oklahoma SB462 authorizes retired municipal police officers to retain custody and possession of their municipal-issued firearm and badge, provided they request it in writing to the head of their municipal law enforcement agency. Exceptions include situations where the officer is mentally or physically incapacitated, or where granting the request would be detrimental to public health, safety, and welfare. If a municipal police officer dies before retirement, custody and possession of the firearm and badge may be awarded to a spouse or next of kin. The act becomes effective November 1, 2025.
