SB2087

Oklahoma SB2087 allows possession of captive-bred alligators without permits, effective November 1, 2026.

Oklahoma SB2087 amends the state's game and fish laws to allow individuals to possess captive-bred alligators without a permit. This bill defines "captive-bred alligator" as any alligator hatched from eggs in captivity and "native-bred alligator" as any alligator of a species indigenous to the state hatched from eggs in the wild. It prohibits the possession of native-bred alligators. The Department of Wildlife Conservation is authorized to create rules for implementing and administering these provisions. Violations of the law are misdemeanors, punishable by fines and/or imprisonment.
