Oklahoma SB1939 amends the unlawful carry and eligibility provisions for handgun licenses. It expands eligibility for handgun licenses to include lawful permanent residents and individuals with permanent military orders within the state. The bill also updates the unlawful carry provisions to include carrying a firearm in furtherance of a crime, assault and battery causing serious physical injury, aggravated assault and battery, and assault and battery that qualifies as domestic violence. The act becomes effective November 1, 2026.
