Municipalities can set penalties for certain offenses equal to state statute penalties.

Municipalities can set penalties for certain offenses equal to state statute penalties. Municipal criminal courts can set fines and imprisonment for prostitution, wastewater, stormwater, and alcohol-related offenses. Municipal courts not of record cannot set penalties for acts or omissions declared by state statute to be punishable as a felony. The bill updates statutory references and language and declares an emergency.
