Oklahoma SB1697 modifies the Oklahoma Self-Defense Act to classify certain loaded handguns as prohibited weapons.

Oklahoma SB1697 amends the Oklahoma Self-Defense Act to classify any concealed or unconcealed handgun loaded with restricted ammunition, larger than .45 caliber, or otherwise prohibited by law as a prohibited weapon. Violation of this provision is punishable as a criminal offense. The act removes administrative penalties and will become effective on November 1, 2026.
