Oklahoma SB1622 establishes that tenants are liable for unpaid utility rates or charges if they leave them in their name when they abandon, surrender, or are evicted from residential rental property. The utility company cannot pursue payment from the landlord if the utility company was not contracted in the landlord’s name. The bill also requires utility companies to restore services in certain circumstances. This act becomes effective November 1, 2026.
