Introduced·2/2/26

Oklahoma SB1584 modifies the time frame for submitting and testing sexual assault evidence kits.

Oklahoma SB1584 amends the statute to modify the time frame for submitting and testing sexual assault evidence kits. It mandates that all accredited crime laboratories in Oklahoma must supply standardized sexual assault evidence kits to law enforcement agencies. The bill requires that collected kits be submitted to the appropriate accredited crime laboratory within 30 days and tested within 20 days of the request. It also stipulates that untested kits must be retained securely for at least 50 years or the length of the statute of limitations, whichever is longer.
