Oklahoma SB1533 amends the Dignity in Burial Act to establish a program providing assistance for the proper interment or cremation of honorably discharged indigent veterans. The bill requires the veteran to have been a resident of Oklahoma to qualify for reimbursement of unpaid expenses directly resulting from interment or cremation. The maximum reimbursement amount is set at $1,000 per application. If there are insufficient resources in the Indigent Veteran Burial Revolving Fund, payment may be made from the Oklahoma Department of Veterans Affairs Revolving Fund.
