Oklahoma SB1226 amends state law to require drivers involved in accidents resulting in property damage to take reasonable steps to notify the property owner and remain at the scene of the accident. The bill updates statutory language to be gender-neutral and specifies that drivers must stop as close to the accident scene as possible without obstructing traffic. Drivers failing to comply face liability for damages in a civil action. The changes take effect November 1, 2026.
