Water and water rights; defining term. Effective date.

Introduced·2/3/25
Int Text

Defines "basin integrity study" and sets an effective date for the law.

Oklahoma SB1009 defines a "basin integrity study" as a scientific study to determine sustainable instream flow regimes tailored for certain basins in certain seasons. The study aims to meet the demand of consumptive and nonconsumptive uses, including sustainable growth, water quality, tourism, and economic, agricultural, environmental, industrial, and municipal development. The bill ensures that such studies will not revoke private water rights or interfere with senior water permitting. The act will become effective November 1, 2025.
