Oklahoma Constitution; ad valorem; senior fair cash value limit; ballot title; filing.

Chamber Passed·3/30/26

Oklahoma HJR1081 proposes a constitutional amendment to limit the fair cash value of homesteads for certain senior citizens.

Oklahoma HJR1081 proposes an amendment to Section 8C of Article 10 of the Oklahoma Constitution to limit the fair cash value of homesteads for individual heads of household who are 65 years old or older. The amendment would eliminate the income threshold for eligibility, requiring only that the individual has occupied the property for seven years. The fair cash value would be determined based on the property's value on January 1, 1997, or the first year the individual was 65 and met the income requirement, whichever is later.
