Oklahoma HJR1042 proposes a constitutional amendment to Section 5 of Article XIII of the Oklahoma Constitution. Currently, the Superintendent of Public Instruction is required to serve as the President of the Board of Education. This bill removes that requirement, allowing for a different individual to potentially serve as the President of the Board of Education. The Secretary of State will refer this amendment to the people for approval or rejection. The Chief Clerk of the House of Representatives will prepare and file the necessary copies with the Secretary of State and the Attorney General.
