Int Text

Oklahoma HJR1041 proposes to amend the state constitution to expand the homestead exemption to include surviving spouses of Gold Star veterans.

Oklahoma HJR1041 seeks to amend Section 8F of Article X of the Oklahoma Constitution to extend the homestead exemption to surviving spouses of Gold Star veterans. This exemption would apply to the full fair cash value of the homestead until the surviving spouse remarries. To qualify, the surviving spouse must prove residency in Oklahoma and meet the eligibility criteria for the homestead exemption. The amendment would also allow for the exemption to apply to any new homestead property acquired by the surviving spouse. The proposal is set to be referred to the people for approval or rejection.
