Oklahoma HB3644, known as the Blake Burgess Act, requires hospitals with emergency departments and ambulatory surgical centers to develop and implement policies and procedures for managing venous thromboembolisms (VTE). The bill mandates training for all nonphysician personnel on these policies and procedures. It also requires the State Department of Health to contract with a private entity to establish a statewide VTE registry, which will collect and analyze data on VTE incidence and outcomes.
