It mandates at least 60 days for providers to produce documentation to address discrepancies, limits audit periods to 24 months, and restricts audits to twice per year. The act prohibits recoupment based on additional documentation requirements and allows recoupment only after final internal disposition. It also mandates specialty-appropriate audits and prohibits the use of extrapolation in calculating recoupments or penalties.
