Enacts the In the Child's Best Interest Act, which sets requirements for adoptive, fostering, and legal guardianship arrangements for children. It mandates that such arrangements must consist of either one or two adults, with a preference for biologically related adults. The act also allows other adults to assist in the care of the child, provided it does not alter the official arrangements. The Department of Human Services is directed to find a safe and suitable home for the child if needed. The act becomes effective November 1, 2026.
