Oklahoma HB2976 requires the Department of Environmental Quality to create rules for numeric water quality criteria for aluminum in state surface waters, effective by December 31, 2027. These criteria must incorporate Discharge Elimination System permits and be included in triennial reviews of Oklahoma Water Quality Standards. The Department must also revise the criteria as needed to reflect new science or EPA recommendations, and submit revisions to the EPA for approval. The criteria will apply to permits and may include site-specific conditions where appropriate.
