Oklahoma HB2248 creates rural mental health and treatment diversion pilot programs to divert individuals with mental health issues from the criminal justice system into appropriate treatment programs. The Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services is authorized to develop and implement these programs contingent upon funding. The bill also allows the department to enter into contracts and promulgate rules for the programs. The act becomes effective November 1, 2025.
