The Emerson Kate Cole Act amends school medication policies to require schools to call 911 if epinephrine is administered to a student and to notify parents if a student experiences a possible allergic reaction. It mandates the use of model policies developed by the State Board of Education in consultation with the State Board of Health. The act also requires annual training for teachers and school employees on food allergies, recognizing anaphylaxis, and administering epinephrine. The act eliminates references to epinephrine injectors and certain training programs.
