Oklahoma HB1962 mandates employers to use a status verification system for new hires and imposes fines for non-compliance.

Oklahoma HB1962 requires every employer registered to do business in the state to use a status verification system for new hires starting November 1, 2025. This system must be an electronic process authorized by the federal government or a third-party system with equal reliability. Employers or their officers or agents who fail to comply will receive three warnings before facing fines of $100 to $500 per offense. The bill codifies this requirement in the Oklahoma Statutes as Section 201 of Title 40.
