HB1393

Oklahoma HB1393 mandates parental consent for changes in a student's special education plan and requires specific consent forms.

Oklahoma HB1393 requires the State Board of Education to adopt parental consent forms for changes in a student's individual education program (IEP). The consent forms must be provided in the parent's native language and include details about the parent's participation in the IEP Team and their right to consent or refuse consent. The bill mandates that schools cannot proceed with certain actions without parental consent unless specific conditions are met. It also requires schools to hold IEP Team meetings to discuss changes in the IEP and provides for procedures during due process hearings.
