Establishes a tax on solid waste disposal and C Corporations to fund remediation of environmental contamination at public parks.
The Safe Parks Act imposes an excise tax on the disposal of municipal solid waste and construction and demolition debris, as well as a tax on the State net income of C Corporations. The proceeds from these taxes are directed to the Contaminated Parks Remedial Account within the Inactive Hazardous Sites Cleanup Fund. This account is used to fund the assessment and remediation of pre-1983 landfills or other inactive hazardous sites that impair the use of public parks owned by local governments.
