Allows compensation for persons unlawfully detained by the state or local political subdivision.
This bill amends Chapter 7A of the General Statutes to allow compensation for persons who were unlawfully detained by the state or a local political subdivision. Claimants can seek compensation for lost wages, tuition and fees for public institutions, job skills training, and other lost benefits. The Industrial Commission will award compensation based on the evidence presented. The bill appropriates one million dollars from the General Fund to the Contingency and Emergency Fund for compensation awards.
