North Carolina S73 authorizes the Town of Richlands to levy a room occupancy tax to fund tourism promotion and related expenditures.

North Carolina S73 allows the Board of Aldermen of the Town of Richlands to impose a room occupancy tax of up to 3% on gross rental receipts. The tax revenue will be used for promoting travel and tourism and for tourism-related expenditures. The Town of Richlands Tourism Development Authority will manage the tax, with members including representatives from businesses collecting the tax and those active in tourism promotion. The Authority will report on its financial activities quarterly and annually. The act is effective upon becoming law.
