North Carolina S629, the Ride Safe, Insure Smart Act, requires owners and operators of public motocross facilities to carry insurance of at least $1 million per occurrence and $2 million in aggregate. The insurance must be provided by an insurer acceptable to the Commissioner of Insurance and cannot include per person sublimits to liability. The law exempts private facilities not open to the public and those owned or operated by the state or local governments. The Commissioner can prevent operation of a facility if proof of insurance is not provided.
