North Carolina S608 expands eligibility for Work First Family Assistance, increases benefits, and removes time limits.

North Carolina S608 revises the Work First Family Assistance program by expanding eligibility to include pregnant women, increasing the cash assistance benefit amount, and raising resource and income limits for cash assistance. The bill removes time limitations on cash assistance, except for those required by federal law. The maximum net family annual income eligibility standards for Work First Family Assistance are set at 75% of the federal poverty level for the applicable family size. The payment level for Work First Family Assistance is 50% of the standard of need.
