North Carolina Paid Family Leave Insurance Act establishes a paid family leave insurance program.

The North Carolina Paid Family Leave Insurance Act establishes a paid family leave insurance program. Employers must contribute to the Paid Family and Medical Leave Fund. Eligible employees can take up to 18 weeks of paid leave for certain family and medical reasons. Benefits are prorated for intermittent or reduced leave schedules. Employers must provide notice and cannot take adverse actions against employees for taking leave. The Division of Employment Security administers the program and reports annually on participation and fund balances.
