Allows employees to use sick leave for care of family members affected by stalking or domestic violence.
The KinCare Act amends the Wage and Hour Act to allow employees to use their accrued and available sick leave for up to five consecutive days to care for a family member affected by stalking or domestic or sexual violence. This includes obtaining medical attention, services from a designated domestic violence agency, psychological or other counseling, relocation, or legal services. The act also prohibits employers from discriminating or taking retaliatory action against employees who use sick leave for these purposes. The act becomes effective October 1, 2025.
