Introduced·3/24/25

North Carolina S411 establishes school bus camera images as prima facie evidence of failure to stop and extends contract length for safety cameras.

North Carolina S411 modifies school bus safety regulations by establishing that images from automated school bus safety cameras are prima facie evidence of failure to stop for a school bus displaying a mechanical stop signal or flashing red lights. The bill also extends the maximum length of contracts for these cameras from three to five years, with an option to renew for an additional term of up to five years. The changes apply to offenses committed on or after December 1, 2025.
