S.388

DOT Permit Review Time Periods

Introduced·3/24/25

Establishes specific time periods for the review of certain permits by the North Carolina Department of Transportation.

The bill amends North Carolina law to set specific time periods for the review of driveway, encroachment, and subdivision permits issued by the Department of Transportation. Within 10 business days of receiving an application, the Department must notify the applicant if the application is complete or incomplete. If complete, a 30-calendar-day review period follows, after which the permit must be issued or denied with a written report. If the Department fails to meet these deadlines, the application is automatically approved.
