The Sergeant Mickey Hutchens Act allows law enforcement, probation/parole, and correctional officers with advanced certificates to purchase up to four years of creditable service in the Teachers' and State Employees' Retirement System. The purchase is made by paying a lump sum to the Annuity Savings Fund. The amount is credited to the Pension Accumulation Fund if paid by the employer, or to the member's accumulated contributions and interest in the Annuity Savings Fund if paid by the member. The act becomes effective July 1, 2025.
