North Carolina S277 allocates $750,000 to improve recruitment, training, and retention of medical professionals in rural areas.

North Carolina S277 appropriates $750,000 from the General Fund to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for the North Carolina Area Health Education Centers Program (NC AHEC). NC AHEC will use these funds to enhance recruitment, training, and retention of medical students and professionals in rural areas. This includes convening stakeholders to share information and establish best practices, and creating a statewide, publicly accessible database of shared information. The act becomes effective July 1, 2025.
