North Carolina S1061 mandates the Department of Health and Human Services to study health issues affecting women who serve in the military. The study will focus on reducing maternal mortality and severe maternal morbidity, particularly racial and ethnic disparities. It will also examine barriers to maternity care for veterans who are mothers, mental and behavioral health risk factors, and access to community resources. The Department of Military and Veterans Affairs will cooperate with the study.
