Constitutional Amendment/Repeal Literacy Test

Repeals the literacy test requirement for voting from the North Carolina Constitution.

This bill proposes a constitutional amendment to remove the literacy test requirement for voting from the North Carolina Constitution. The amendment will be presented to voters in the 2026 general election. If approved by a majority, the Secretary of State will record the amendment. The State Board of Elections will oversee the certification of the results. The amendment will take effect upon certification if passed.
