The Hometown Opp. for Mentoring Educators Act

Introduced·4/10/25

Establishes the Hometown Teacher Grant Program to provide salary supplements for teachers in North Carolina.

The Hometown Teacher Grant Program, established by the bill, provides grants to local school administrative units to award salary supplements to eligible teachers. Eligible teachers must have attended or graduated from a high school in the same local school administrative unit where they teach. The Department of Public Instruction will establish criteria and standards for participation, and local boards of education will promote the program. Eligible teachers will receive a monthly salary supplement of $500 as long as they remain employed in the same local school administrative unit.
