North Carolina H798 appropriates $1,720,000 to the Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Aging, to establish a Cold Weather Shelters Grant Program. This program will provide grants to municipalities and nonprofit organizations to implement or expand temporary emergency shelters for people experiencing homelessness when severe weather is expected. The Division of Aging will develop application materials and selection criteria, considering the availability of other funds and the incidence of poverty in the area served. Each grant award will not exceed $215,000.
